Project Highlights
Sociology Mask
2009-2010: Created a mask expressing the socialization of oneself, and how it has affected them as an individual. Learned about the influences on society by examining media influence, propaganda, socialization, and various components of identity including race, class, gender, and sexual orientation. Applied and developed skills including self-reflection and awareness due to exposed influences such as the subconscious discrimination against races.
Model United Nations
2009-2010: Conducted a simulation of a United Nations conference dealing with issues including the Gaza Strip and its conflicts with Israel, as well as the nuclear dispute in Iran. Learned about important current events in-depth, the processes involved in running and participating in a UN conference, and how to write different documents such as resolutions and issue briefs. Applied and developed skills including how to debate on complex ideas and happenings, how to effectively communicate a complex idea in a short amount of time, and independent research and work skills, such as creating policy papers to inform the class of the issue and provide basic background knowledge.
Genocide
2010-2011: Created a presentation dealing with several concepts of the Bosnian Genocide, which lead up to an International Involvement Analysis. Learned about the social psychology of genocide, events in the Bosnian Genocide, and the pros and cons of International Involvement. Applied and developed skills such as how to take into account several different aspects of a very broad and complicated subject in order to create a final product that uses evidence from these aspects, how to condense subject matter, and work independently.
Cat Dissection
2010-2011: Dissected a cat and learned about the different systems in the cat, how its anatomy differs from and compares to that of a human, proper terminology to use during dissection, and how the different organs function in a cat. Applied and developed skills including how to properly cut open the cat and how to identify organs and other parts of the cat.

2009-2010: Served as a chair and was in charge of running the conference, providing the council with issue briefs, and conducting the progress and process of the conference.
Student Ambassador
2009-2012: Elected by faculty to represent Animas High School. Conducted interviews for potential teacher, gave tours through the school for potential students, families, and investors, lead shadowed experiences for incoming or prospective students, and attended and spoke at information nights for Animas High School.
Student Advisory Council
2010-2012: Elected by student body to represent Animas High School. Assisted in the organization of a joint-school dance, Advisory Olympics, and the introduction of vending machines to Animas High School. Conducted student surveys in order to obtain feedback, and provided monthly updates on happenings in the council for the student body.
