Math Analysis
This year we will be looking for the beauty that we see in mathematics. As we learn math this year, our journey will incorporate mathematical processes that characterize mathematics learning. We will be incorporating processes and skills including:
- Mathematics as communication
- Mathematics as reasoning
- Mathematics as connections
- Mathematics as problem solving
- Mathematics as representation (of a universal language)
What topics will we explore on our journey this year?
Semester 1: Math Analysis
- Sequences – Series – Recursion
- Parametric Equations & Conic Sections
- 3-D Vectors
- Probability
- Data Analysis
Semester 2: Introduction to Calculus
- Limits & Continuity
- The Concept of Derivative
- Derivative Rules
- Derivative Applications
Recursion Project
Mathematics presents both complex and beautiful geometric patterns that beg our minds to wonder how they were created if we are willing to look. Patterns may be quantified using tables and equations and for most people, a visual model is crucial to the understanding of the pattern.
We were challenged to define and create a 2-D and 3-D fractal design and analyze its behavior using sequences, series and recursion. Click here to see our project.
